Throughout my emerging journey as an author, I am finding that the best – and most natural – way to use my voice is to highlight and celebrate the unique qualities that children embody to help boost their self-esteem and broaden their imagination.

In my debut book, Girls Aren’t Just Girly, the rhyming verses are crafted to acknowledge and celebrate some of the different strengths, dreams, abilities, and aspirations that children have. My hope is that reading these witty and whimsical verses will help children appreciate their unique talents and learn from and each other’s differences. My other books are GREAT, too - check them out!

I’m drawn to rhyming meter as my writing style. Lyrical writing seems to come naturally to me. It can be tricky at times getting the rhyme, meter, spelling, and grammar all to cooperate. But it’s SO MUCH FUN to read aloud that it makes the extra effort worthwhile.

When I’m not writing… I’m a daughter, mother, grandmother (or GiGi!), auntie, friend, storyteller, dog owner, champion of happiness, and spreader of joy!

About the illustrators:

  • Amanda Swift:
Amanda was more than the first illustrator I worked with - she was my mentor. She taught me the ropes and did her best to keep me out of trouble in the wild, often confusing world of self-publishing.

  • Olga Sall:
Olga and I connected after I followed her work with two other authors. Her whimsical, colorful, imaginative style was just what I was looking for to illustrate my third and fourth books which she did in spectacular fashion!

  • Hernan Gallardo:
Stay tuned as I reveal the NEW book that Hernan and I will be collaborating on soon!!
